Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Branch Building
The Kindergarten school day begins at 8:45am and ends at 2:30pm. The Preschool school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 6:00pm (full-day program), and 8:00am - 2:30pm (half-day program).
Morning Drop Off Procedure
Kindergarten students may arrive at 8:00am if they are enrolled in the Early Arrival Program. This program is limited to the first 25 students to apply. Applications are available at both buildings.
Kindergarten students may arrive at 8:20am for the Free Breakfast Program, available to all students. No application or enrollment is required. Kindergarten students may arrive at 8:30am for morning playground time where teacher supervision is provided, weather permitting.
Preschool students may arrive anytime after 8:00am, but should arrive by 8:45am for free breakfast.
If driving and dropping off your student, please use the Kiss & Go traffic pattern to drop off your child. Kiss & Go is staffed by parent volunteers to assist students getting out of their cars in the morning only. In the interest of students' safety and a consistent traffic flow, under no circumstances may parents and/or guardians exit the vehicle.
Afternoon Pick Up Procedure
Kindergarten: pick up on the East side of Federal Street, 2:30pm. Kindergarten students exit from room 102 located on Federal Street. Kindergarten students enrolled in the Extended Day Program (3:07pm - 6:00pm) will be bussed from the Branch Building to the Main Building.
Preschool: pick up in the driveway 2:30-6:00pm. Use the North door, but pull car forward in driveway as much as possible to allow multiple cars in the driveway.
Main Building
The 1st – 8th grade school day begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:07 pm.
Morning Drop Off Procedure
Students may arrive at 8:00 am if they are enrolled in Early Arrival Program. Applications are available at both buildings.
Students may arrive at 8:30 am for morning playground time where teacher supervision is provided, weather permitting. Students will meet their teacher by their room number located on the school's playground at 8:55 am. During inclement weather students will enter the building at 8:30 AM and report to the hallway located outside of their classroom door. The Free Breakfast Program is offered to all 1st - 8th grade students at 9:00 am in the classrooms. 9:07 am is considered tardy to school.
Parents please utilize the Kiss & Go (see diagram below) and follow the flow of traffic. Please drop off on the West side of the school building, curb side only.
Afternoon Pick Up Procedure
Parents/Guardians meet your children at the designated area:
1st grade (rooms 124 & 127 only) students will exit from the Southeast door located on the school's playground near Plymouth Court. 1st grade students (room 107) will exit from the Main Entrance.
2nd grade students will exit from the Southeast door located South of the Main Entrance.
3rd, 4th, 5th grade students will exit from the Main Entrance door and walk to the playground.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will exit from the Southwest door located on the school's playground near Federal Street. 6th - 8th grade students walk north on Plymouth Court to exit school grounds. Students cannot wait on the corners of 13th and Plymouth Court or 13th and Federal Street or in the park without parent supervision.
If your child is not enrolled in South Loop School's Extended Day Program (3:07pm - 6:00pm), he/she must be picked up promptly at 3:07 PM. There is no student supervision after 3:07 PM; students cannot wait in the park or playground unattended. Not adhering to this policy can result in discipline according to the student code of conduct handbook.
Extended Day Pick Up Procedure
There is no parking on Plymouth Court from 3:15-6:00pm daily. Parking is available in the school's parking lot or Federal Street for student pick-up after 4:00 pm.
